Yes, it is Labor Day across America and I celebrated by working! When you own your own business and it’s a small business you work the holidays if your clients want baked goods. I learned all about owning a small business from my parents as I grew up in Iowa City, Iowa. They had their own restuarant there for many years. I worked for them from junior high school on to high school. They taught me a great work ethic and it was an easy decision to start my own business as a wholesale baker. I knew I could do a better job because I cared about the product I put out on the market. I wanted the best organic and natural ingredients because it was important to me that my customers put wholesome food into their bodies.

I went out today to visit some new shops that have recently starting carrying some of my products. I went to Drinkhaus on Madison Ave. in Germantown and Ugly Mugs in East Nashville as well as their neighbors Freshblends Smoothie Shop. It was great meeting with the owners and talking about my baked goods. I never tire of hearing how much their customers enjoy my organic/natural baked goods. I also went by Crema on Hermitage Ave. and had a great cup of coffee. Crema has been open for almost a year now and is a great place to go for coffee and one of my muffins! It truly matters to me what goes into my baked goods. I use the best ingredients I can find and I try to use local whenever I can. My new Zuccini muffin is made from zuccini from my local CSA, Fresh Harvest farm. I know there are alot of people out there who care about the food they put into their body and I’m the baker for them!

I just finished prepping for another day of baking at my kitchen. No matter how many days I do this work I still find some joy in the work I do(even with the early mornings). I take pride in the fact that I started this business from one small coffeehouse and built it up to 13 coffeehouses, stores and the website! I love getting the kudos from my fans! It means so much to me.
